Features
The fungus Ganoderma boninense causes blight and blight on oil palm, coconut and fruit plants. It is a very dangerous fungal disease. Infestation of this pest can reduce yield by 50% to 80%. In many cases the field spreads and causes complete (100%) damage.
This is usually expected after 10 years for palm oil plants. Even plants less than 10 years old are known to be infected under current conditions. Young plants will die within 6-18 months if no preventive drugs are applied. Plants die within 2-3 years when expected for large plants.
Biological control:
1.Ganoderma can be prevented by Hendersonia and Scythalidum fungal products in oil palm crops.
2. Better results can be obtained with a combination of fungus and actinomycitis to prevent ganoderma in oil palm large plants.
3. Use of this consortium in combination with VEM can effectively prevent this invasive Ganoderma pest.
Specification
Method of use of Ganoderma consortium for control of Ganoderma (per 1 acre):
1. Mix 2 kg of Ganoderma Consortium in 200 liters of water.
2. Add 500 grams of glucose or 2 kg of jaggery to the mixed mixture.
3. Ferment the mixed mixture for 3 days.
4. After 3 days the fermented mixture should be sprinkled around the plants or dripped to one acre of plants.
Dosage:
Dose per crop of Ganoderma (per 1 acre) 2 kg of Ganoderma Consortium should be given once every 2 months.
Dose (per 1 acre) if Ganoderma occurs in adjacent field 2 kg of Ganoderma Consortium should be given every 3 months for a year.
Dose for plants above 18 years of age (per 1 acre) 2 kg of Ganoderma Consortium should be given once every 6 months
