Mycorrhiza is a soil born fungus which has the ability to dissolve phosphate and other minerals useful for the plants. They are key components of eco-systems which hasten nutrient cycles & minimize losses caused due to leaching. Mycorrhiza are the symbionts which obtain their food from the root exudates (excreta) of the plant. In return, they supply mineral elements like Carbon, Phosphorus, Nitrogen, Manganese, and Zinc to the host plant. Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) also acts as a suppressing agent for soilborn root pathogens. Presence of Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (VAM) reducessoil erosion due to heavy rains and floods. VAM conserves plant nutriets from run-offs caused due to floods & leaching and reduces evaporation losses due to heat in summer conditions.
Mycorrhiza brings the nutrients and supplies the plant from 10 feet down in the soil.
